Yankee Stadium Sees History: Aaron Judge Gets Ejected for the First Time
Usually, a trip to Yankee Stadium offers familiar sights and sounds. But on Saturday, during a 5-3 win over the Detroit Tigers, something unexpected happened: Aaron Judge, the Yankees' star slugger, got thrown out of the game.
This was a first for Judge. In his entire professional baseball career, which spans a whopping 870 games, he'd never been ejected. This event also marked another milestone – Judge became the first Yankees captain to get the boot since Don Mattingly in 1994.
According to Judge, this ejection was a whole new experience for him, even at lower levels of baseball. So, what caused all this drama?
Apparently, Judge didn't agree with a strike three call made by umpire Ryan Blakney in the seventh inning. While clearly unhappy, Judge didn't yell or turn around to argue. Instead, he gave Blakney a look and mumbled a few words under his breath as he walked back to the dugout. That's all it took.
The umpire crew chief, Alan Porter, explained that Judge said something inappropriate and that there are certain things players simply can't say to umpires, no matter the situation. While Porter wouldn't reveal exactly what Judge said, Judge himself chose to keep it private as well, saying only that it would "stay out there" on the field.
While the specifics of Judge's outburst remain a mystery, one thing is clear: even the most respected players can get frustrated by a bad call. This unusual ejection adds a new chapter to Judge's impressive career and reminds everyone that baseball can be a game of hot tempers and unexpected twists.
